The #1 Place to Show Up for More Revenue: An Email Marketing Soapbox & Guide
Recently, I listened to a podcast by Email Marketing Genius - Jenna Kutcher - and I loved it, not only because I preach this (btw, 4 years ago I created this EMAIL MARKETING GUIDE) - but because when I work with new clients, 8/10 have emails from current, past, and potential clients that they’re not using to build connection, educate, inspire, or sell.
I am here today to join my thoughts with Jenna’s advice.
Guys…can you believe we are halfway through 2023 😮?! I am here today to nudge you on email marketing.
Whether your currently use email marketing or don’t, I’ve got a few TOP reasons you should be investing in this great marketing strategy. It’s what I believe is a NON NEGOTIABLE for all businesses.
Why you ask?
To put it simply - you can have direct and personalized communications with people that WANT to know about you, your business, and your product & services. How do I know? Because they GAVE you their email address! (And nobody gives their email address to just anyone.)

Listen…with Social Media, things don’t always hit your true community because of the algorithm! BUT, you can count on the fact that if you have an email address, it is because one human raised their hand to say “Yes! I would like direct communication with you.”
Your email community is like your VIPs and they are way more receptive to actually wanting your messages and offerings. They care about what you have to say. Social followers do not have that level of dedication to our content, and like us - are often distracted while scrolling.
And, don’t forget, you can personalize your emails by including your subscribers name in the field. This feels so special when received, right?
Jenna Kutcher says, “Social media oftentimes feels like we're screaming to the masses, because essentially that is what it is.” I couldn’t agree more.
PROOF DROP: According to a study conducted by Experian, personalized emails can generate SIX TIMES HIGHER TRANSACTION RATES compared to non personalized emails.
So, if you're putting all of your eggs into the social media basket, that has to change. Yes it’s a lot of hard work and dedication, and yes you should still use Social Media, but maybe change up your strategy a bit and use it to ask for their email address to get to know you better. What an invitation that can be!
If you google “how many people see my posts” - you will find a slew of articles that indicate less than 10% of Instagram followers see your post. In fact, it’s been stated that maybe about 3.5% of your followers even see what you're sharing. 🤦♀️
Then in that same search you will go down a rabbit hole of tips, tricks and steps to TRY to beat the algorithm with 25 new things to do. Who has time for that???
Don’t believe me? Go check for yourself. Go to some of your favorite Social influencers, first look at how many followers they have, then scroll their posts and see how many are engaging in their posts - do that math.
So if you haven’t already - it is time to start your very own email list, and say hello to a whole new level of connection and impact.
Think about it…when you send an email to your list, 100% of your subscribers will see you in your inbox and make the conscious decision to either open it, read it, engage with it, delete it, whatever. You can use the metrics to understand and improve your open rates.
And for a final mic drop - email marketing will generate a higher conversion rate.
Numerous studies have shown that email campaigns tend to have far higher conversion rates compared to other marketing methods. People are on social media to be entertained and educated or distracted. But when people are in their inbox, they mean business - and they are far more likely to make a purchase. And you know that when you make more sales, your business grows.
Here’s one last fun fact:
According to a June 2023 article with Constant Contact - the average return on investment is approximately $42 for every dollar spent. So if you want to make sure your precious time and money is spent in the right places, it’s email marketing! It’s where you need to be focused, growing, serving, and showing up.
